Champaign County remains a regional employment center, largely due to the presence of the University of Illinois and two major medical centers. According to the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES), the labor force in 2016 was 120,754. In 2016, the County’s top four employment sectors were educational services, health care and social assistance, retail trade, and accommodation and food services, according to Champaign County Economic Development Corporation (EDC).  The table below shows the top 10 County employers.
