The C-U MTD service area expanded in 2017, adding 2.3 square miles of additional service area mainly in southwest Champaign. The additional service area includes the new Carle at the Fields development and a few subdivisions in Champaign. With this expansion, the percentage of the urbanized area within the C-U MTD service area increased from 78.2 percent in 2015 to 79.2 percent in 2017. The C-U MTD service area remained unchanged during 2018.

From 2015 to 2018, both the percentage of single-family and the percentage of multi-family housing covered by C-U MTD service area increased. Overall, residents living inside the C-U MTD service area have better access to transit service since 2015. Therefore, this performance measure receives a positive rating.

The C-U MTD service area didn’t change from 2015 in 2016. Therefore, the percentage of the urbanized area contained covered by the C-U MTD service area was still 78.2%. 93.3% of all residential land uses were contained inside C-U MTD service area in 2016, a slight decrease of 0.1% from 93.4% in 2015. Positive rating.
With the expansion of the C-U MTD service area (adding the New Carle at the Fields development, and a few subdivisions in Champaign), 79.2% of the urbanized area, 96.0% of all residential land uses are contained inside C-U MTD service area in 2017. In general, residents living inside the C-U MTD service area are having better access to transit service since 2015. Positive rating.
There were no changes to the C-U MTD service area in 2018. Similar to coverage in 2017, the C-U MTD service area covered 79.2% of the urbanized area and 95.8% of all residential land use in 2018. Since 2015, C-U MTD has expanded its service area to cover more of the urbanized area, and local residents have improved access to transit service. Positive rating.
